You can also change from colour to black and white. You can adapt the size, type of symbol, drop in photos or remove a symbol if needed, as well as change the text under a symbol if the symbol represents something different from the word given, eg I used the symbol for 'filing cabinet' for 'workstation' as the symbol looked like my workstations. Widgit is a symbolised word processing programme, so you can type in a word and the symbol (and alternatives) appear above. You might want to check with whichever school your children will be going to/are going to, as many of the symbols are different. I initially used Boardmaker at school (ASD primary provision) but changed to Widgit on the recommendation of the local special school I had links with, it is what they used and as a few of my children transferred to there, it made sense to use the same one.
